RATIONALE FOR BLOG ASSIGNMENT
- To expose students to current issues on media and reflect on it
- To foster critical thinking skills
- To encourage self-directed learning
- To encourage peer learning
- To have fun!
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
SUBMISSION FORMAT:
Group Blog (7-8 students in a group) BUT each student will be individually assessed.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Each student is responsible for the group blog.
2. There will be 4 contemporary issues for critical reflection and discussion within the group blog
3. Each week (for 4 weeks) at least one reflective response (5%) and two reflective responses to members’ postings (2.5% X 2)
STEP BY STEP WORK FLOW
@ STEP 1: SELECTING A GROUP
(Deadline: 12 midnight, 26 June 2011)
Form a group of 7-8 students, choose a group leader. Group Leader collect Name, Id No, Email add, Hand phone No. of group members and send information to Ms. Helena via email (helena.song@mmu.edu.my). You can choose a unique name for your group.
@ STEP 2: SETTING UP OF GROUP BLOG
(Deadline: 12 midnight, 3 July 2011)
Group Leader set up group’s blog.
Invite group members to be part of the blog. Group leader send group’s blog’s URL to Ms. Helena via email (helena.song@mmu.edu.my). Group leader must ensure that each group member (as author) is part of the group’s blog.
@ STEP 3: POSTINGS AND COMMENTS (Week 5 – Week 8)
(Deadline: 12 midnight, Sunday of each week)
Each student must post at least
1.) 1 reflective response on topic given (5%)
2.) 2 reflective response/comments to members’ postings within the group (2.5% X 2 = 5%)
All posts should be spread out over a period of 5 days to 7 days (NO BINGE-ING!!)
Each week, topic of discussion will be posted in MMLS via announcement on Monday.

CHECKLIST FOR ASSESSMENT
Each week (10% x 4) = 40%
Reflective response:
01- Make clear connections to the chosen topic of review
02- Think, ponder, reflect, debate and discuss the issue given
03 - Include supporting details and examples (you can use videos, audios, photos) to elaborate your points
04 - Addressing questions and comments from peers thoughtfully
05 - Use correct spelling and grammar
